Class Blog Started!

Hi members of the KC Graduate Translation Class!
I will be using this blog to update you on readings for
class, and other class news. Please check this blog by
each Friday before our Saturday class.

On Saturday, May 12th, we will discuss:
(1) Sight translation from the last topic
(2) Written translation from the last topic
(3) Background research for our new translation topic

Here are two articles for your reference. Please read them
before class on Saturday. You do not have to read them in
too much detail, but be prepared to talk about them.
Also, please print out your own copies for class.

This article is, obviously, a translation of a Japanese original.
There are several 直訳 in the article that are very un-natural in English.
Can you find them?

There are many technical terms in this article, so you can
just skim it. Do, however, try and notice the difference between
this article (written by a native English speaker) and the translated
article above.
